Calder Yates is an artist and a writer. He currently works for California College of the Arts as Program Manager of Special Programs. He is a contributing writer for KQED and Artillery, was formerly a columnist for Art Practical and Daily Serving, and consults for the Mayo Clinic's Center for Humanities in Medicine. He is also Co-founder of The Thicket Residency. He got his BA from New College of Florida in Art and Political Science and a dual master's degree—MFA in Studio Art and MA in Visual & Critical Studies—from California College of the Arts. His artwork has been exhibited at Southern ExposureWattis Institute of Contemporary Art, and—as part of KCHUNG Radio—at The Hammer Museum and Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles
